Decades ago, this big hair-wearin’, rock-singin’ dude was makin’ his way under the Hollywood sign, dancin’ week after week on the 80’s hit TV show Solid Gold.
Leavin’ the glitter (and spandex) behind, he headed north and found “success” in the corporate world, a world that did not fit this music-makin’ free spirit. Confused was he until YOGA made it’s grand entrance into his poor briefcase-slingin’ soul. Alex dove headfirst into this new world full of breath, movement, intention, and joy. Reading everything he could read, studying from those who taught, and taking classes everyday from those who helped guide his path. Soon, he watched his spirit unfold. In the snap of a finger, the corporate life was in the rear-view mirror and The YoYoYogi story was born! What started as “the summer of love,” a yogi road trip to 100 studios in 100 days, turned into Portland’s own, YoYoYogi. It didn’t take long for Portlanders to realize that inside the doors of YoYoYogi the joyful spirit of yoga was alive and well. Today, you can find this gifted and highly sought after teacher drummin’, chantin’, and shakin’ the souls of students from near and far. Here they come into YoYoYogi for Alex’s mat to mat class, Soul Shakin’ Yoga (aka “yoga church”) to sweat, stretch, and learn more about the deep lessons of life. In an effort to spread the love to yogis everywhere, Alex and his wife, Terri, feel blessed to lead the acclaimed YoYoYogi RYT Teacher Trainings. How proud are they of those who have graduated from this program?! Words cannot express. They continually seek to bring valuable workshops and vast learning opportunities to YoYoYogi.
