About
I have been a yogi, on and off the mat, since 1998.
Multiple injuries from a bad car accident left me unable to participate in high impact exercise of any kind, and thus began my journey on the path of yoga. I remember my very first yoga practice: at home with a Patricia Walden DVD! That same year, I moved to London, England and continued on my yoga path by sampling any type of yoga I could find: Iyengar, Kundalini, Bikram, to name a few, always thinking in the back of my mind that 'one day when I had time' I would take a Yoga Teacher Training. It wasn't until a decade later in 2008, when I moved back to the U.S. (New York City) that I discovered Kripalu Yoga and I fell in love! To me, Kripalu yoga offers the perfect union of asana, meditation, breathing techniques, yogic philosophy, mantra and intention. Kripalu means compassion; it is the yoga of inquiry and consciousness, of meditation in motion; it met me where I was physically, and helped get me to where I wanted to go physically, spiritually and mentally (on and off the mat). As I deepened my practice of Kripalu Yoga, the call to move into teaching became stronger until I could no longer ignore it. In 2014, I received my 200-hr Kripalu Yoga Teacher Certification, and a year later, I completed my Professional Level 500-hr Yoga Teacher Training in Advanced Yoga Leadership (Shakti Initiation) with my teachers Jovinna Chan and Grace Jull in Bali, Indonesia. I am also a certified Let Your Yoga Dance instructor, a fun and sacred class which combines yoga, dance and music from around the world to journey through they chakras. Since then, I've gone on to study Psychology of the Chakras and Chakra Therapy with Anodea Judith. The chakras continue to be a focal point in my work as a yoga teacher. Even as a teacher, I remain a life-long student of yoga, grateful to all of my teachers who came before me and supported me on this path.
