About

Danielle Foertsch Newman, C-IAYT, RYT 500, E-RYT 200, YACEP is a relatable, authentic yoga therapist and teacher trained in the lineages of hatha and SomaYoga.

Her focus on SomaYoga partners well with her additional expertise in gentle yoga, adaptive yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga, chair yoga, and Yoga Nidra as well as yoga’s sister science of Ayurveda. Danielle approaches each student with a unique appreciation for and awareness of their being. The practices she facilitates are both trauma-informed and spiritually-integrated. Danielle enjoys working in group settings, in private or small group yoga therapy sessions, in outdoor locations, and with community and religious groups. In addition to teaching at Fresh Coast Yoga, she is available for off-site classes and welcomes the opportunity to work with new clients in either private or group settings through her small yoga therapy business Snowy Cedar Center for Wellness. Danielle completed a 1000-hour yoga therapy training program at Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute in Duluth, MN to become a SomaYoga Therapist in July 2024. Danielle previously completed a 200-hour teacher training program at Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute and a 300-hour training program through My Vinyasa Practice based out of Austin, TX. Danielle is currently enrolled in a 200-hour kundalini yoga teacher training program with Yoga Farm Ithaca. Danielle’s practice and teachings incorporate all eight limbs of yoga moving beyond asana to a more wholistic experience of well-being. In addition to classic asana, she incorporates a variety of techniques in her classes including somatics, breathwork, sound healing meditation, mudras, guided relaxation, Thai yoga bodywork, and the yamas & niyamas to ensure a strong mind-body-spirit connection. Danielle is also a certified Reiki practitioner and has competed additional training in adaptive yoga with Matthew Sanford, restorative yoga with Judith Lasater, yin yoga, Yoga Nidra, chakra reading, sound meditation with the Sound Healing Academy, shamanic journeying with Sarah Seidelmann, Vedic astrology with Robin Stamp, a Sleep, Immunity, and Emotion course with Indu Arora, and and a Viniyoga Therapy course with Gary Kraftsow. She is currently completing ongoing training in Thai yoga bodywork with Margaret Harstad of Muggymoose Massage and Thai Yoga Bodywork to bring even greater relaxation to her clients.Outside of the yoga community Danielle is a licensed architect who provides design and construction project management in her role as a regional field planner with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. She enjoys an active, outdoorsy lifestyle filled with hiking, biking, and agate collecting. Her favorite part of living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is connecting her yoga practices with the healing, calming, and sometimes stormy energy of Lake Superior.
