About
Ben holds a Ph.D.
in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University (2019) with a graduate minor in Physiology. His doctoral research focused on mathematical modeling of the autonomic nervous system – specifically how sympathetic and parasympathetic pathways regulate heart rate and blood pressure. He is also an experienced yoga teacher, blending science and creativity in every class. Ben completed his 200-hour training at Total Being Yoga in Mint Hill, NC (2022), followed by a 300-hour advanced training at Y2 Yoga in Charlotte, NC (2025). He earned his E-RYT 200 and YACEP certification through Yoga Alliance (2025).His teaching emphasizes alignment and joint protection — a focus shaped by his own recovery from carpal tunnel syndrome. Classes often feature whimsical, mandala-style flows where the back of the mat becomes the front (so no hiding in the back!). He balances high-intensity movement with restorative poses to help regulate autonomic responses and support emotional resilience.Ben teaches regularly at Matthews Yoga Collective in Matthews, NC and Total Being Yoga in Mint Hill, NC, offering practices that are both anatomically informed and creatively inspired.
