Why Yoga?               I started really developing a consistent yoga practice when I was going through my divorce  It was a time for me to concentrate on something that did not cause me stress  Yoga was easy enough and felt good and I didn’t cringe at the thought of practicing   If I would have started running I know I would have said things like “It’s too hot it’s too cold it is raining” and so forth  My boys would allow me my time on my mat because when I came off of it I was a much calmer and happier person  At that point I saw yoga as a gentle exercise program              Over the course of a few years of practicing I noticed other changes in my personality and my ability to deal with stressful situations  I reacted with a calm demeanor in most cases where previously I would have screamed at everyone close to me  The fact that I even noticed this was also a surprise  I began to see the correlation between my yoga practice and my take on life  This in turn grew to a more spiritual self and the acceptance that what I believed and had faith in was okay  Many people in my family had been trying to shove God down my throat on their terms and that was just making me more resistant to their beliefs  I needed my own; I needed to develop my own relationship with God              From that point my life had changed for the good and there was no turning back  Now my practice is stronger than ever and in practicing consistently and earnestly I am seeing even more changes  I have more confidence my muscles are stronger I have a creative energy force and I love more deeply  These are parts of myself that I never want to lose and that is “why yoga”             I want to start small if needed with people that are seeking support in their lives  Maybe they need that gentle persuasion like I received in the beginning  Maybe they just need some gentle support in moving their bodies  Whatever the need is I hope to share that love of yoga with them  Then those souls can take what they need from yoga and apply it to their own lives; starting wherever they are in their lives and moving forward to better places inside and outside of their bodies  This is also “why yoga”             God brought me yoga and I am thankful for that  It has changed my life in so many positive ways  When I think back to those trying times I realize that I was needing God and He gave me a way to understand Him  I can’t imagine my life without God or yoga  It is even taking me on new journeys with my intuitive self and becoming a wonderful snow ball of love and light that continues to grow as it rolls down the snowy hill  I could not be happier with what I have learned and shared with others and yoga  It truly is a gift from God and that is “why yoga”.
