About
When I went through my 200 YTT they said, "there is always something that brings you to yoga." I was a dancer from the age of 3.
I loved moving around. When I first tried yoga, in the early 2000s with a VHS video I purchased from Target, I immediately hated yoga :-D It was holding poses forever, not moving. Fast forward to around 2015ish, I was rocking negative handstand push-ups in CrossFit. I had 4 plates under each hand, and went all the way down, to gently tap my head and kicked back up. Mind you, I was told not to overdo it, but I was so excited to be able to do something that was harder for taller bigger people. I tore tendons in both shoulders. I went to the surgeon and he said "well, we can do surgery, or, you can do yoga." Yoga! I hated yoga. It just wasn't my jam. So I went home and did what every other person on the face of the earth does... I went to YouTube and started searching Yoga. I found Allie the Journey Junkie! I LOVED her!! She helped me to LOVE YOGA!!! It wasn't holding poses forever. It was moving and "flowing" She made it so much fun, and I was hooked! From that moment on I did yoga every day, except for the months I had to take off after they removed a tumor from my spine. While I was recouping from the tumor, I always felt "I want everyone to feel as good as I feel. Everybody needs yoga in their life." I also have Multiple Sclerosis, which caused me to have headaches every single day since I was diagnosed in 2003. Once I started doing yoga and REALLY Breathing, I hardly ever get headaches. Yoga has changed my life, and I talked about it with everyone. I kept getting the feeling like I wanted to get certified, and then finally I received a heavenly nudge, and got certified in July of 2019. During the Spring of 2020, in the midst of covid, my husband approached me about opening a yoga studio. I had been teaching friends out of my house since being certified, but opening my own studio scared the crap out of me! With his help and guidance I opened my doors January 4, 2021. I LOVE all of the people that I have met, that I probably wouldn't have met otherwise. It hasn't been easy, but it's one of the best things I've done!
