Robert Swedberg is an Experienced = Registered Yoga Teacher E-RYT with Yoga Alliance which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with an approved and active Registered Yoga School RYS  He began his yoga practice at age at Smiling Dog Yoga in Orlando Florida where he also got his certification  Since then he has continued to absorb instruction and inspiration from several instructors in the Astanga and Anusara traditions  Beryl Bender Birch and John Friend have been great inspiration and particular influence as well as workshops with David Swenson Dave Williams and Manju Jois He recently retired as Associate Professor of Music at the University of Michigan where he directed university opera productions and used yoga in singing-actor training  He also developed a course called Yoga for Performers with weekly class sessions and students per semester  Yoga for Performers is now in the curriculum at the School of Music Theatre and Dance at the University of Michigan   Previously as general director at Syracuse Opera and Orlando Opera he worked with Syracuse University and the University of Central Florida to develop training programs that have helped students make the transition from university to professional careers  In his capacity at the University of Michigan he took this a step further by offering a holistic approach to singing-actor training with yoga being a prime component of the training Swedberg has degrees in music and theater from California State University Northridge and earned a MBA from the University of Central Florida.
