About
SHAWN SELK, CPA, RYT 200 Shawn began practicing yoga to aid in his recovery after a major auto accident in 2003.
He found his alignment-based yoga practice in 2006 after joining a group yoga class. Since that time, Shawn has experienced the beneficial powers of yoga as well as the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of the practice, and he has felt called to share these benefits with others. He completed his 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) Training in April 2011. Shawn stays true to the very authentic and traditional teachings of his lineage of teachers, which originates in Bombay. These teachings are disciplined and heartfelt with a spiritual emphasis. He has a special interest in using yoga to help those afflicted with addiction challenges. In 2010, Shawn traveled to India to train with Fr. Joe Pereira, Managing Trustee and Founder of Kripa Foundation. Kripa Foundation is a public welfare organization in India that uses yoga in addition to a twelve-step program for helping with alcoholism and drug addiction. Shawn had the honor of visiting three Kripa Foundation rehabilitation centers, assisting with a class at the Bandra center, and teaching classes in the Vasai center. Outside of yoga, Shawn is a live-music fanatic and arts enthusiast. He also enjoys cheering on local sports teams and spending time outdoors with his friend and partner Michelle and their dogs, Bohdi and Jake.
